The practice of medicine as I knew it came under attack starting in March 2020. The day I saw Anthony Fauci debut on national t.v. as the expert on sarsCoV2, I told my husband ‘this guy is in this for his minute of fame’. Little did I know that minute would turn into 19 months and counting. Such panic over a coronavirus was mind boggling. The destruction of American society that has come from this expert induced panic may not be reversible.
From the beginning, I have practiced with common sense and science. I never closed my practice, I never turned patients away. I kept my staff employed. Yet I saw my small business wavering as the number of visits declined. At the same time I saw empty emergency rooms and empty hospitals. We were bombarded on the news with case numbers and deaths.
Common sense says we should always have washed our hands and covered our cough. Common sense says isolating the elderly and keeping kids home from school is detrimental to mental health and society. Common sense says protect the vulnerable, quarantine the sick and do the right thing. Common sense says covering your face and avoiding human contact paves a way for violence and violations of human rights.
Science says look at the data, the evidence and the disease. Science says masks do not keep out an aerosolized virus. Science says use drugs that are available and have a high safety profile. Science says treat people that are sick, don’t wait for them to be on death’s door before letting them seek care. Science says look to the doctors that are actively treating the ill and doing research at the point of care for guidance.
Common sense has become offensive. Science has become corrupt. Those that do not comply with the t.v. experts are demonized and attacked. Those that work tirelessly to treat the sick and promote well being are not heard. I hope to help change this disastrous course we are on.
